1970s.

In my 17 years of experience in the health and wellness industry, I have often been
asked these enquires:
What is detox and how does it helps me?
Do I need to detox and why?
Is it a myth that detox is good for health?
How to start detox?
Detoxification or detox, or body cleansing, in simple terms, is a process that neutralises toxins and removes them from the body by assisting the elimination organs like skin, colon, kidneys, liver and lungs, to function efficiently, so as to bring a balance to the body. Thus, helping the body to become healthier over time.
Although there are different schools of thoughts regarding detox, I personally believe that when detoxification is done in the right way, it is helpful for health.
I was introduced to the concept of detox when I was fifteen due to my very sensitive skin and weak health then. After seeing many doctors and experimenting with many eastern and western treatments, my parents and I were at our wits. The feeling was, what else could be done to improve my health, skin and general well-being? Read my story to know more about my condition and what I went through.
For me, after trying detox for the first time, I experienced improvements to my health. My energy levels increased, I felt happier, I could sleep better, had higher clarity and I could focus better in school. I was also lighter, less puffy and swelling. My sensitive skin was less red and patchy, and showed signs of clearing up.
I felt so much better that I went for a second round with supervision and was experiencing bigger improvements. Since then, I have been on regular detox programmes to maintain my health and weight.
Many naturopathic or holistic health professionals consider detoxification to be the single most powerful tool in the prevention of onset of diseases. I personally like detox as I find that it helps to slow down internal and external aging.
There are different types of detox programmes available. I have tried many and learnt from good teachers over the years. I have also devised my own holistic detox programmes and taught in Singapore and Malaysia which have benefited many people.
Detox is easy and fun! Detox can be personalised to suit your needs with specific foods, drinks and exercises. Detox can be done based on your availability, convenience and location, and it can be done in groups or one-to-one.
