It's not just how much water you drink but how you drink your water.
I have practised holistic water management therapy for the past 16 years and have taught this in many of my health trainings in Singapore and overseas.
This easy, natural, water cleansing method has been helpful for me to alleviate my gastritis, sensitive skin (eczema and rashes), improve my immunity, regulate bowel and help me in my weight management. I also find that this is helpful to maintain youthfulness.
How to begin:
Get up early in the morning and drink 2 glasses of warm, alkaline water quickly. This is also known as "Flushing Water".
Do this empty stomach, first thing in the morning.
Initially, you may not be able to 'stomach' in 2 glasses of warm water, at one time. It's alright, do not fret.
Start with 1/2 glass and gradually increase to 1, then, 2 glasses.
You would not be able to squeeze your breakfast down immediately. In fact, you are going to feel quite full.
Rest for 30 to 45 minutes before having your breakfast.
Meanwhile, dress up or prepare your breakfast. This is because you need to let the water that you have "flushed down", to have time to cleanse your kidneys, bladder and hydrate your intestines.
Normal to feel a need to urinate or have bowel removal after 10 to 15 minutes. Visiting the toilet is expected. Please do not hold your body wastes (read: toxins). This need to release your toxins is good for you!
"Flushing water"
This is a natural method of activating or to kick-start any sluggish digestive system.
Do "Flushing Water" before breakfast. This is practically, "flushing water" down as water is to be drunk quickly, at this stage (only).
Imagine the picture of a waterfall with gushing water coming down.
This serves as a form of good cleansing water therapy for weak, sluggish and overworked digestive system (read: excessive amount of carbohydrates and meat; lack of dietary fibre).
It also encourages faster and better colon clearance of old stools that are accumulated over the years.
For people with constipation, or irregular bowel movements, practise this daily to help regulate your bowel cycle and eliminate the woes of irregular bowel movement.
When can I take my breakfast?
Have a hearty and healthy breakfast, 45 minutes from the time you begin your "flushing water" process.
Sip water slowly, or in small sips. Do not drink water quickly, never in gulps or use "flushing water" method after food.
When can I start to drink water again?
Take note to only begin to drink warm, alkaline water, 45 minutes after your breakfast.
This is to prevent:
1) Nutrients from our food to be "wash down" before they are absorbed effectively in our small intestines;
2) "stressing" our stomachs to produce more stomach acids as "flushing water" down after meals would dilute our stomach acids to digest food properly.
This weakens our stomach linings overtime. Especially for people with gastritis, acid reflux, bloated stomach or weak digestion, to please take note.
Try to sip water or finish drinking 1 glass of water, every hour. By night fall, you would have drink at least 8 to 9 glasses of water. Try to bring a bottle of water when you go out too.
Sip water slowly manages urine flow better and reduce water retention
When we flush water down at a high speed, we need to urinate quickly and very often.
This could weaken our kidneys and bladders over time as emptying of bladder in very short duration, has similar diuretic responses 1 hour after drinking coffee/ tea.
Which type of people are highly recommended to practise Holistic Water Management Therapy?
People with water retention concerns;
Ladies who experience bloated stomachs and indigestion 1 week before menstruation;
Prone to Urinary Tract Infections (UTI);
Backaches/ joint pains/ inflammations or swelling of joints, gout, high uric acid;
Kidney stones, gall bladder stones;
High blood pressure, weak heart;
Gastritis, acid reflux concerns;
Sensitive skin, eczema, psoriasis, or people with over-reactive immune system;
Benign growths like polyps, fibroids, cysts, piles;
Ex-Cancer patients.
Why does Holistic Water Management reduces water retention?
Drinking water in small sips is to prevent our bodies to adopt the, "camel in the desert"
body response reactions to store water which further alleviates water retention and increases blood pressure concerns.
Thus, indirectly spiking up our acidic pH level in our bodies which allow toxins in our blood and bodies to circulate and stay in our bodies.
